Writing as a stay at home mom

For those of you who stay at home with your children, I know you know the struggle of trying to get anything done. As a self published author working on my second book I struggle to find the time to sit in front of my computer. Let alone focus on what is in front of me. Each afternoon I put my youngest down for her (If I'm lucky) hour nap, set my son up with a snack and try to work on my book. Normally after about one paragraph my son will call for me. His bowl tipped over, or the show is over. Sometimes it's something I can't even decipher. However in that very moment the world is ending for him as I try to create a world of my own.

Trying to shut out the whining while trying to keep your train of thought is the hardest part. It's hard enough to block out the world and write, add a toddler or two, complete chaos. However I have started to find balance between the two. My son has started to understand this is just part of our daily plan. My daughter Is napping, though not for long. However I have found that having the time crunch to produce something in a short period of time has actually helped me stop over thinking. That's what editing is for.
